Handcrafted Hardwood Designs LLC is a veteran-owned, small business that designs and builds custom hardwood furniture, float and picture frames, and an entire line of serving boards and home decor for your home. In addition to building custom items, we also provide framing services and personalized laser engraving.

Our Process and Philosophy

All of our handcrafted products begin with an idea and inspiration that is turned into a design. This leads to selecting quality kiln dried hardwood purchased from local family-owned lumber suppliers that only source lumber from responsible mills that practice sustainability.

Our hardwood lumber begins as rough sawn boards that to the untrained eye may appear more suitable for the firepit than as a centerpiece in your home. However, like many things in the world, as the rough exterior of the wood is planed away the hidden beauty of the grain and figure is revealed for the first time.

All wood tells a story through each growth ring, imperfection, and even damage caused by insects during the course of its life. It is our job to embrace that story and handcraft it into a custom product that goes beyond utility and function. Our hope is to create a timeless work of art that provides the perfect statement in your home. Our designs incorporate details and construction methods that were once the standard in furniture making and woodcraft, long before factories began using inferior materials, subpar construction methods, and automation.

We use solid hardwoods, strong joinery methods, and finishes that are durable, safe, and enhance the grain. Our designs often highlight the wood and the joinery, while providing options that can be incorporated into your space. Our furniture and wood crafts are built to become a family heirloom that is passed down to the next generation. Not only is it passed down because it was treasured by the family, but because it would last long enough to be passed down.

We never compromise on the integrity of the craft and every item is custom built with an eye for detail. Hardwoods such as walnut, white oak, mahogany, maple, and cherry are just a few of the wood species used in each design. Other natural mediums such as leather and slate are incorporated where appropriate to provide additional interest and lead to a unique item. Every product made by Handcrafted Hardwood Designs LLC is the only version in existence. While the dimensions may be the same, since the wood is natural and unique to the tree it was cut from there will never be an exact duplicate.

The use of quality materials, craftsmanship, and timeless designs does lead to higher upfront costs than what you would pay at many large retail chains. However, unlike most of what is sold at retail chains when you purchase from us, you only need to buy it once.
